North London NHS require a Specialist Neuro Occupational Therapist – Band 5 or 6 to work in a hospital.
Essential to have current HPC registration.
Skills/experience: working with stroke or patients with neurological conditions. Neuro-rehabilitation skills for specialist assessment and treatment of clients with stroke. Working in multi-professional teams across a range of different agencies to achieve optimum outcomes for service users. (including working in the community). Should have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a positive and innovative approach to service development an have a commitment to multi-disciplinary team working/skill sharing. And have the ability to support and develop more junior staff and the responsibility to deliver training and use all relevant research and audit data to ensure the service meets the evidence base requirements.
Essential to have a current UK driving license, and access to a vehicle for driving in the community setting. System One training preferred. Car driver.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week. Monday – Friday, 08.30 – 16.30.

Therapy team lead providing leadership to Acute Assessment Unit / Frailty Unit /A&E and Resus. Duties may include providing cover for current band 7 in Pit Stop in ED. The therapy team works generically across the traditional OT and PT roles. The postholder will be expected to hold a clinical caseload and directly supervise staff, working in collaboration with the existing band 7 physiotherapist who is currently undertaking project work in ED. Necessary skills/experience: Competent in rapid assessment and discharge planning in fast paced short stay/A&E environment; experience in assessment /treatment/discharge planning in acute care of the elderly/medical wards in a busy hospital. Needs to have sound respiratory knowledge and skills. Experience working in an acute NHS hospital within an MDT. Good communication skills. Knowledgeable in equipment provision for safe discharge. Experienced is supervision and appraisal of Physiotherapists and supporting OT's. Working hours: 37.5 hrs/week Monday to Friday needs to be able to work mix of early (8am – 4 pm) and late (10 am – 6 pm ) shifts.

- To have awareness of Contraindications, precautions and protocols following orthopaedic surgery
- To have basic awareness of brace implementation eg TSLO, cricket pad splints and Miami J collars

- To understand balance components and use Balance retraining in interventions
- Gait analysis and facilitation

- A participate as the Single point of access duty worker to screen hospital referrals to facilitate timely discharge home including determining those suitable for discharge to assess pathway
- As duty worker complete discharge to assess home visits within 2hrs post discharge to facilitate timely discharge to improve patient flow and prevent readmission
- Assessment for long term packages of care as required and present at weekly Panel
- Identify Safeguarding concerns, risk assess and refer where appropriate to services to manage risk of harm to service users and promote wellbeing
- Assess mental capacity and ability to make informed decisions relating to assessment Complete carers assessment to support informal carers in their role and manage risk of carer breakdown
- Identify service users appropriate for Continuing Health Care to manage complex health needs
- Working together with service users, significant others and carers to promote independence and wellbeing
- Liaison with social care, health and partner services to provide client centred care
